Elementary School
What Makes Highland Outstanding?

Apart from having a 120-year presence in the community and being on the National Register of Historic Places, Highland Elementary School is a unique place that it is filled with life and love for learning and is focused on our students.

Highland is a school where student leadership is celebrated and encouraged. Students broadcast our daily morning announcements and provide ongoing leadership modeling throughout the building. Student clubs, study trips, after-school tutoring, and Math and Literacy Nights are among many of our student activity opportunities.

Ballet Met, Opera Columbus, Children's Hospital Mobile Unit, and many more community partnerships create a bustling and thriving student-focused environment. These partners working with our teachers, students, and families help make Highland “The Pride of the West Side”.

Highland curriculum aligns with the Ohio's Learning Standards. They prepare our students for College and Career Readiness by focusing on the knowledge and skills theywill need to attend college, trade school, join the military, or start a business.
Site Based Council
Highland is pleased to continue our Site-Based Council work with multiple established community partners during the 2017-2018 school year.
Highland works cooperatively with members of multiple area churches, recreation centers and community support organizations to provide support for both our students and their families. We are proud to have members of the Highland Community Garden, students at The Ohio State University, and employees of Safelite Auto Glass meeting with staff each month to discuss specific needs of the Highland Community, providing resources and curricular support and engaging in daily literacy interventions.
With our community members, we will continue to work together to be "The Pride of the West Side!"
